Favorite Pin: On the Artists Board: Deborah Kass’ Six Blue Barbras (The Jewish Jackie Series), 1992. Hat-tip to Andy Warhol.
The Jewish Museum’s site boasts just a few pinboards, but all of them are quite choice. Delve right into the collection by clicking on The Artists board, and see Alex Katz’s Red Smile (Study), 1963; Andy Warhol’s Franz Kafka, 1980; and Marc Chagall’s Untitled (Old Man with Beard), c. 1931.
The You pinned it! board allows wannabe Pinners to sift through the museum’s treasure trove and pin their own favorites. As the curators explain: “We can't do it all, so we'd like you to add your own pins about what you love at The Jewish Museum. Pin with the hashtag #thejewishmuseum and we'll add it to our board!” And if you’re in the market for a bagel yoyo (see above), “schlep tote,” or other novelty items, it’s all there on the obligatory Shop board.

Favorite Pin: It’s a tie: On the Purses, Vases, and Cases Board: Miser's Purse, 1810 – 40; On the Object of the Day Board: Birdcage, mid-19th century; Mahogany, cherry, pine, stain, brass, wire; United States.
The design arm of the Smithsonian, Cooper-Hewitt is currently undergoing renovation. But followers of Object of the Day can ogle hundreds of photos of finely crafted items being pinned by the museum on a regular basis — from a drawing of a design for a “nymph comb” to machine-printed Popeye wallpaper to a window shade hand-painted with a Hawaiian motif to Alvin Lustig’s abstract design for the cover of a 1951 edition of Hermann Hesse’s Siddartha. Click on the individual pins for mini-tutorials by Cooper-Hewitt’s design experts.
See, too, purchases made with membership dues on the Cooper-Hewitt's Members' Acquisitions Fund Purchases board. Some of our favorite pins on this page: the “Lotus” bowl (1912-1917) and “Bubbles,” a chaise longue, circa 1988.
