Adrienne Cannon
Adrienne Gokhale Cannon lives in Springfield, VA. She has three grown children and two grandchildren. Her son lives in Baltimore, MD with his family; her two daughters and their families live nearby in the Virginia suburbs.
Adrienne taught Spanish and Italian for 30 years in local high schools and retired from the Prince George’s County, Maryland Public School System in 1996. Since that time she has been writing essays, playing the clarinet with community concert bands and volunteering as a tour guide at the Kennedy Center, Washington DC. Free To Be ... Discovering Just How
Adrienne G. Cannon writes: I can look at my monthly calendar and plan trips that accommodate only my schedule. I don’t have to worry about matching up my dates with any one else's. And there is no reason not to make travel plans one month after another. My friends will say, "You travel a lot!" And I can smile with pleasure and not feel guilty because somebody is waiting for me at home. Yet this scenario is poignant as I return to my empty apartment. more »
Eye of the Beholder: Seeing the Vivid Color Pallet During Cataract Surgery
Adrienne G. Cannon writes: My eye is a little blurry and aches but I can already detect a change in the perception of my "new" eye. It is a bit disconcerting at first but the colors adjust themselves as the day progresses. And there is a depth of field I perceive when I look at objects. The highlights seem sharper and the shadows are deeper. I know there will be more changes, more adjustments, and more delights as I discover my new 20/20 distance vision and savor the clarity permitted by my new lens. more »
