H.R. 4843—Rep. Lou Barletta (R-PA)/Education and the Workforce (3/22/16)—A bill to amend the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act to require certain monitoring and oversight, and for other purposes.
Family Support
H.R. 4849—Rep. Steve Chabot (R-OH)/Agriculture (3/22/16)—A bill to reform the work requirements for able-bodied adults without dependents, and for other purposes.
H.R. 4881—Rep. Phil Roe (R-TN)/Agriculture (3/22/16)—A bill to require that supplemental nutrition assistance benefits be used to purchase supplemental foods that are eligible for purchase under section 17 of the Child Nutrition Act of 1966 (commonly known as the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children) and certain additional foods.
Military
H.R. 4864—Rep. Lois Frankel (D-FL)/Armed Services (3/22/16)—A bill to revise the crime of sexual assault under Article 120 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice to include committing a sexual act upon another person by using position, rank, or authority to obtain compliance by the other person.
Tax Policy
H.R. 4846—Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-VA)/Ways and Means (3/22/16)—A bill to increase the child tax credit.
Women Fighting for Peace
On March 22, the House Foreign Affairs Committee held a hearing, “Women Fighting for Peace: Lessons for Today’s Conflicts.” The hearing focused on the effect of women’s participation in peace negotiations and other efforts to reduce violence and extremism.
