Senate Passes Female Veteran Suicide Prevention Act
On June 8, the Senate passed the Female Veteran Suicide Prevention Act (S. 2487) by voice vote. The Veterans' Affairs Committee held a hearing on this bill on May 25 (see The Source, 5/27/16). Barbara Boxer (D-CA), the legislation directs the secretary of Veterans Affairs to identify mental health care and suicide prevention programs that can effectively treat women veterans.
