Croft Pink PortPerfect for the Patio or the Porch

By Sharon Kapnick

Port has moved from the fireside to the patio. From one of Portugal’s oldest port houses — Croft, founded in 1588 — comes the newest style of port, a rosé.

While technically a light ruby because there is no official category for rosé ports — yet — this innovative Croft Pink port combines white port technology and red port grapes. The result: a refreshing, delightful, crisp, vibrant, light-ruby-colored wine with berry and cherry flavors and aromas.

What’s so exciting about Croft’s rosé port is that it’s a whole new experience. There’s nothing quite like it. If you’re not already a port fan, Croft Pink just might convert you. If you’re already a port lover, you’ll want to try this port especially designed for warm weather. Serve it chilled or on ice, with a twist of orange or a spritz of soda water. It’s a lovely aperitif or a perfect match with fruit or light desserts.

Pink port is brand new in the US and will be more widely available later this year. Until then, buy it online (see wine-searcher.com) for about $20. With an alcohol level of 19.5%, Pink will stay fresh for at least a week after it’s been opened.
